The International TESOL Accrediting Authority is a legal body comprised of a registered company with directors selected from world leading academics. Its authority is to accredit TESOL certificate programs.

About the International TESOL Accrediting Authority Mission.

Over the last decade a boom in TESOL courses has occurred. There are many excellent global TESOL Certificates to choose from. Yet the TESOL profession is unregulated on a global scale - the micro scale has a degree of regulation - the macro scale has little or no regulation.

TESOL courses are unregulated in one sense in so far as the Internet provides an unregulated forum devoid of country specific laws. Unregulated in a second sense in that other courses provide a variety of programs that should never be allowed to exist for they bring the TESOL profession into disrepute.

There are an estimated 4,200 TESOL courses available for the new or experienced teacher to chose from. Yet there is no professional and definitive source of information that identifies a course as reputable. The I-TAA mission is to establish a world wide authority to regulate the spread of TESOL course such that the practitioner wishing to avail him/herself of such course can undertake said courses with the utmost confidence in
(a) the quality of the course
(b) the legal basis of the company running the course
(c) the educators teaching the course are both qualified and experienced
(d) fees are appropriate to the type of course on offer
(e) that a Certificate is recognized by an Educational authority

The Authority has summarised its key functions as follows:

* provide consolidated statements of TESOL courses
* ensure that certification issued by TESOL providers meets approved standards
* provide leadership in strategic planning for TESOL qualifications management
* provide advice to Government Minister on matters relating to qualifications

Over the coming decades the I-TAA will take a dominant role in the advancement of English language programs and English language school inspections worldwide.

The functions of the I-TAA have global support, ranging from Governments and sister Accrediting agencies, to the Global Academic community.

Over one million five hundred thousand teachers and academics are involved in TESOL | EFL |ESL |EIL | worldwide. The I-TAA will protect the rights and futures of this vast community as the English Language growth goes to every corner of the world.
